Position: 2 Seasonal Farmhands

Salary: $10/hour
Schedule: Full-time Seasonal, May through October, occasional evening and weekend hours
Position summary: The Greening of Detroit is seeking two full-time, seasonal Farmhands to work primarily at the Detroit Market Garden, a four-season farm in Detroit’s Eastern Market District. The position requires an individual with a strong interest in community-driven food systems and urban agriculture, the experience and willingness to work with diverse groups, and the ability to collaborate with community organizations. The individual’s primary task will be to perform general farm work including: planting, weeding, harvesting, washing and packing of produce. Position: Youth Farm Education Associate

Salary: $8/hour
Schedule: Full-time Seasonal, Mid-May through Mid-August, occasional evening and weekend hours
Position summary: The Greening of Detroit is seeking a full-time seasonal Youth Farm Education Associate to support a youth leadership program for high school students with the Brightmoor Youth Development Collaborative (BYDC), a partnership between The Greening of Detroit, Neighbors Building Brightmoor, and Detroit Community Schools. Job responsibilities include supervising a crew of 12 high school students in market gardening and entrepreneurship training. This position also works closely with the Youth Education Coordinator to supervise and provide educational programming for the Urban Agriculture Youth Apprenticeship throughout the summer. The Youth Farm Education Associate works in the Urban Agriculture Education Team in the Urban Agriculture and Openspace Department and reports to the Youth Education Coordinator. Position: Openspace Program Intern

Salary: This is an unpaid internship
Schedule: Part-time Seasonal, Mid-May through Mid-August, occasional evening and weekend hours
Position Summary: The Greening of Detroit is seeking a candidate for a part-time, seasonal intern to support the Openspace Team within the Urban Agriculture and Openspace (UAO) Department. The Openspace Team works to engage Detroit residents in addressing vacant land issues in their neighborhoods. We leverage resources and expertise to support the planning and implementation of greenspace projects that build community capacity and connections, strengthen existing assets, and physically transform vacant lots into productive community spaces. The Openspace Intern will support the implementation and maintenance of Openspace projects, which include: community and market gardens, fruit orchards, pocket parks, tree plantings, and initial cleaning and clearing of vacant lots. The Intern will also assist in evaluation of Openspace projects to assess their impact on the community and current condition in order to improve future implementation.
