Bjerga, an IRP fellow to China in 2005, covers agricultural policy for Bloomberg News. In 2009, he won awards from the Overseas Press Club, the New York Press Club, the Society of American Business Editors and Writers, and the North American Agricultural Journalists for his work in Ethiopia on famine and U.S. food aid. His latest book is titled Endless Appetites: How the Commodities Casino Creates Hunger and Unrest.
Thurow is a senior fellow for global agriculture and food policy at The Chicago Council on Global Affairs. For 20 years, he served as a foreign correspondent for The Wall Street Journal, based in Europe and Africa. In May, Thurow will be releasing his new book, The Last Hunger Season.
